I had a great experience staying at New Koyo in Tokyo. The accommodation was just what I needed for a one night stay. The room was basic but comfortable, with a TV, cupboard, and hooks. The highlight was the fold out futon on the tatami mat, which added a traditional touch to my stay. The facilities were convenient, with toilets and a kitchen on every level, and onsens and showers on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and helpful, making my stay enjoyable. The location was in a quiet neighbourhood, which was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the city. New Koyo offered great value for a budget option and I would definitely stay here again.

    Cannot find any faults. 😊

I couldn't believe the value for money at this place, where else could you find such an affordable single room in a major capital city? The room may be small, but it was incredibly cozy and perfect for my stay. The location was convenient, with an underground station nearby and plenty of good places to eat in the area. The staff were friendly and spoke excellent English, which made me feel safe and taken care of.

The breakfast menu could use some improvement, maybe adding more variety would be great.

Cheap prices, vending machines downstairs, great access to minami senju and staff were very friendly and helpful

Aircon either didnt work or was just awful, (staff loaned me a fan but that didn't help much either). Futon is not a comfy thing to sleep on, pillows were awful (filled with plastic tubes rather than feathers etc). I just couldn't stand the heat at all.

The room was cheap and the hotel wasn't too far from the metro station. The hotel manager was also very friendly.

From the outside the hotel looks lovely but inside it's very basic. The room was very small and basic. It just consisted of a matress on the floor, metal cupboard and tv. When I was looking for the hotel one of the women in the nieghbourhood warned me not to go down certain streets because she said it was dangerous. The hotel manager told me that the their main client base were refugees and there was also a sign outside the front of the hotel door warning people not to stand outside at nighttime because there had been complaints from the nieghbours about people making too much noise and that made me feel a bit uneasy. As a woman travelling on their own I didn't feel completely comforrtable about staying there on my own but if I was with someone else and I wanted somewhere very cheap to stay then I would stay there again.

Loved exploring Asakusa and Ueno, so close! Rented a bike, free Wi-Fi, and helpful staff. Lobby had English papers, and I cooked in the kitchen. Conveniently located, and enjoyed cable TV.

Oh, how I missed having a window in my room! So refreshing to shower with other men, zero privacy.

The hotel was conveniently located near Tokyo SKYTREE and the metro. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms were exceptionally clean. Free amenities like umbrellas and green tea were provided. Short walking distance to Minami-senju station and convenience stores.

    Nothing, all was good.

Cheap price, small room but at least you are alone in your room. Good if you wanna take a break from hostels without having to sell your liver. The staff is really nice and helpful. The showers are clean and the water stream et quite strong. Good wifi signal and Internet speed. You have to walk 5-10 minutes to go the restaurant area, but once there, you have a lot of choice and it's not very expensive.

The men's room looked a bit old and dirty.

The hotel is conveniently located near a metro station, making it easy to explore the city. It is also situated between various attractions and in the Ueno area, providing plenty of options for sightseeing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with the option for self-catering thanks to the microwave and tea/coffee facilities. the shared bathroom facilities are exceptionally clean and provide great hot water for a refreshing shower.

The rooms are small, but this is a common feature in this type of accommodation.

Really it is not a hotel. It is a hostel. From this view point it is very good, clean hostel with very hospitable staff. It has good location.

our recent escape to tokyo has been a blissful respite, thanks to the cheapest and loveliest stay we found. the staff at new koyo were incredibly helpful and made us feel safe in their cozy environment. the proximity to public transport and shopping centers was a major plus for us, allowing us to easily explore the city without any hassle.

Very helpful staff! We asked a lot of questions and always got comprehensive and accurate information. It is possible to prepare meals there. Wifi was working fine. The room was small, but still bigger than our other room in Tokyo - that's why we switched our previous hostel for this one. There are many convenience stores in the neighbourhood, so it's easy to do grocery shopping. It is not that far from Minami-senju station - 5-7 min walk.

You get what you pay for - so don't expect 5-star hotel rooms :)

Located near a train station with easy access to various attractions in the area. The staff were friendly and spoke English. The WiFi was reliable and accessible throughout the hotel. Additionally, there was a convenient little kitchen with tea and water available for guests.

The common area had limited seating and the kitchen was small and outdated. The single rooms were cramped with little space to move around, and the blankets provided were too short.

Staffs are very friendly and helpful. In Tokyo, it is not easy to meet service staffs who can speak well English, but the staffs at New Koyo speak very good English, they are resourceful too.

I had a fantastic stay at New Koyo! The team was so helpful and welcoming, always ready to assist with finding places to go, giving directions, or even negotiating prices. The hotel had a unique style that made me feel like I was staying in a military room or a monk's cell, which I absolutely loved. The rooms were simple and austere but had a lot of character. And the best part? There was an Onsen inside the hotel! The kitchen was always open, allowing me to cook my own meals. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. I highly recommend this hotel for its affordability, atmosphere, and helpful staff.
